Does the thought of meditating overwhelm you?

So, are there times when you sit for a while and get frustrated?

It is a common misconception that meditation means a lack of thoughts or blocking out any incoming ones. But, it’s important to know that you don’t need to keep your mind empty when meditating. It can be enough to simply acknowledge your thoughts, and let them come and go as they please. Ideally, it should be taken as an activity to take the time to observe your thoughts. It’s time that you carve out of your busy schedule only for yourself. Meditation can be really useful in managing work stress and other mental health issues. Doing things that make you feel good and adding meditation to that list can make a major difference in your life.

Use these tips to get started:-

Play a guided meditation:

If you feel like it’s too hard for you to sit in a corner with your eyes closed. Try a guided meditation and, this can make the time go by easier. There are a lot of meditation videos available online. You can play any video of any kind you like and follow what the instructor tells you to do. After all, this can be a great way of starting your practice, once you get good at this you could experiment with different mantras or just meditating in silence. 

Start with only 5 to 10 minutes

You don’t have to start with a long thirty-minute or one-hour meditation session. Start with something as short as 5 to 10 minutes. Once you feel like you are getting better at sitting down in meditation you can slowly start increasing the time. Make sure that you increase this time gradually and not too much at once. Give yourself some time to train your mind and body to sit in a meditative state.

Fix one spot for your meditation practice

I would suggest that you take a corner in your room or in any peaceful place where you like to sit. This spot should be quiet, clean, and cool. Make sure that you sit in this spot every time. Gradually your mind and body will start to associate this place with peace and calm. It will start becoming easier for you to get in touch with your subconscious. Also, Make sure that you maintain good posture when meditating, lean back on a wall if you need to. Now don’t forget to keep your breathing in check and your hands on your lap.
